An Adventure To Never, Never Forget!

Experience the Variety NT Adventure Camp!

Join us for a week of adventure, friendship, and unforgettable experiences at the Variety NT Adventure Camp, held during the June/July school holidays in the cool, beautiful Dry Season. The camp is completely free and welcomes up to 24 teenagers, aged 13 to 17, along with carers and volunteers. Designed for children with mild to moderate disabilities and those facing disadvantage, the camp offers a safe, supportive environment where campers can step away from their daily routines and try new activities.

Set at Goanna Park, 90 km east of Darwin on the Arnhem Highway at Annaburroo Station, the site offers everything needed for a week of adventure. Enjoy spacious camping grounds, a fully equipped kitchen and hall with an outdoor undercover area, ablutions and laundry facilities, a large billabong, rocky outcrops, bush walkways, and a medical centre with comfortable bedrooms.

Campers sleep in large screened tents under the trees, falling asleep under the sparkling starlit sky. Each day is filled with delicious, wholesome meals—three per day plus morning and afternoon tea—with snacks available on request.

Come join us at Variety NT Adventure Camp, where fun, friendship, and adventure await!

The Variety NT Adventure Camp is powered entirely by volunteers—an incredible achievement—and we need all hands on deck again in 2026 to create an unforgettable experience for our campers!

APPLY NOW VOLUNTEER

Variety – the Children’s Charity NT invites, enthusiastic volunteers to be part of the 2026 Variety NT Adventure Camp! This unforgettable experience runs from Saturday, 27 June to Friday 3 July 2026, at the Goanna Park Junior Police Rangers Youth Facility, located 90km east of Darwin on the Arnhem Highway.

Each year, we host the Variety NT Adventure Camp for teenagers with mild to moderate disabilities. Campers enjoy an exciting outdoor experience, sleeping in large, screened tents and participating in activities such as fishing, water sports, crafts, disco and talent shows.

By volunteering, you’ll play a vital role in giving teenagers with disabilities the chance to have fun, build confidence, and create lifelong memories. Your support will directly impact their lives, providing opportunities they may not otherwise have.

Volunteers also enjoy a truly rewarding experience, sharing laughter, friendships, and heartwarming moments with campers and fellow volunteers. Not only will you be making a real difference, but you’ll also experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from seeing a teenager’s face light up with excitement and achievement. Meals and basic accommodation are provided for the week. While full-week volunteers are preferred, part-time support is welcome.

Positive Outcomes

The Junior Police Rangers (JPR’s) attend the Variety NT Adventure Camp as young carers and mentors for the National participants.  Also attending is several JPR graduates as Junior Carers extending their knowledge to the younger JPR’s under the supervision of Senior Carers and Volunteers. In this circumstance, there is a nurturing and development of future carers who also assist at other local events in a similar role or as young volunteers within the community.

The documented positive outcomes for the teenage campers attending Variety NT Adventure Camp are increased development of independence, confidence, social communication and peer interactions whilst on camp which then extends when returning home to family and school environments.  The camp allows children to experience challenging activities and situations with support and encouragement from experienced Senior Carers, generally associated with inclusion support services Australia wide.

My son was one of the junior police rangers on this camp and absolutely loved every minute of it, wants to volunteer again.
