Variety NT was proud to support the Women's Shelter with a Community Grant, providing therapeutic toys, puppets and books to help children and their mums on their healing journey.
The new resources have created a more nurturing and responsive environment where children can safely explore their feelings, experiences and relationships through play.
One child used the mini puppets provided through the grant to express complex emotions about family relationships and experiences of domestic and family violence. Through puppetry, they were able to communicate feelings of fear, sadness, anger and confusion in a way that felt safe and appropriate for their age.
Sometimes the simplest resources can make the biggest difference, helping children feel safe, heard and hopeful for the future.
