An Adventure To Never, Never Forget!

Join us for a week of adventure, friendship, and unforgettable experiences at the Variety NT Adventure Camp, held during the June/July school holidays in the cool, beautiful Dry Season.
Set at Goanna Park, 90 km east of Darwin on the Arnhem Highway, the site offers everything needed for a week of adventure. Enjoy spacious camping grounds, a fully equipped kitchen and hall with an outdoor undercover area, ablutions and laundry facilities, a large billabong, rocky outcrops, bush walkways and a medical centre.

Campers sleep in large screened tents under the trees, falling asleep under the sparkling starlit sky. Each day is filled with delicious, wholesome meals—three per day plus morning and afternoon tea.

About the Camp:

The Variety NT Adventure Camp is an unforgettable experience for teenagers aged 13–17 with mild to moderate disabilities. It's a place to make new friends, try exciting new activities, build confidence, develop independence and create lifelong memories in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.

Throughout the camp, participants are supported by a dedicated team of caring volunteers and Junior Police Rangers buddies, ensuring every camper feels welcome, encouraged and included in every activity.

Activities during the day included: Outdoor adventure - like fishing, team activities, sports and games, arts and craft activities, water activities and outings.

Activities in the evening, dance party, movies, spotlight, karaoke, a talent show and star gazing.

At Variety NT, we believe every young person deserves the chance to experience adventure, friendship and the joy of simply being a kid. Our Adventure Camp is designed to help teenagers step outside their comfort zone, discover new strengths, and enjoy an action-packed week filled with laughter, encouragement and unforgettable experiences.

Who Can Apply?

The camp is completely free and welcomes up to 24 teenagers, aged 13 to 17, along with carers and volunteers. Designed for children with mild to moderate disabilities. The camp offers a safe, supportive environment where campers can step away from their daily routines and try new activities.

Available Volunteer Roles
We have a range of volunteer positions available to help make this year’s Variety NT Adventure Camp a success. Whether you enjoy working directly with campers or supporting behind the scenes, there’s a role for you!

Supports one or more campers throughout the camp, ensuring their well-being and providing care at all times.

Assists Senior Carers in supporting campers and helping with daily activities

Manages the medical centre, oversees camper medications, ensures they are administered on time, and maintains first aid supplies.

Plans menus and shopping lists before camp, sets up the kitchen, and manages meal preparation, cleaning, and stock control throughout the week.

Supports the Camp Caterer with meal prep, cleaning, and kitchen duties

Helps with general cleaning and laundry to keep the camp running smoothly.

Maintains the campsite, checks tents, and manages waste disposal.

Drives the bus to and from camp according to the scheduled activities.

Positive Outcomes

The Junior Police Rangers (JPR’s) attend the Variety NT Adventure Camp as young carers and mentors for the campers. Also attending is several JPR graduates as Junior Carers extending their knowledge to the younger JPR’s under the supervision of Senior Carers and Volunteers. In this circumstance, there is a nurturing and development of future carers who also assist at other local events in a similar role or as young volunteers within the community.
